Today I am thrilled to share with you the story behind my upcoming book, “Building Dreams: Finding Personal and Financial Freedom Through Healing,” set to launch in 2024. As I sit here with my laptop, a notebook, and a pen, surrounded by the tranquillity of a snowy forest, I am doing the final read-through of my book before sending it off into the world. This book has been a labor of love, a journey that has spanned over a decade but took three years of dedicated writing to complete. Today, I want to share with you why I wrote this book and what the writing process has been like for me.
My journey into the world of entrepreneurship has been nothing short of remarkable. It all began with a background in agriculture, which consumed the first two and a half decades of my life. However, my life took a dramatic turn when I met my husband, Noah, who was a passionate entrepreneur with a successful landscaping business in our hometown.
Together, we embarked on a journey of buying foreclosed properties, fixing them up, and selling them—a fixer-upper business that was ahead of its time, even before HGTV made it cool. This venture eventually led us to build brand-new homes, and we found ourselves constructing a staggering 100 homes. Alongside our home-building endeavors, we ventured into real estate investing. Today, our focus is on real estate, and our journey has been a testament to the limitless possibilities of entrepreneurship.
Initially, my motivation for writing this book was to share my entrepreneurial journey, especially with women who might be seeking inspiration to start their own businesses. I felt strongly that I wanted to encourage others and show them that entrepreneurship is an incredible path to personal and financial growth. Having lacked a mentor during my own early years, I wanted to be the guiding light that I wished I had.
However, as I delved into the writing process, I found myself wrestling with the question of how much of my personal background to reveal in the book. I enlisted the help of book coaches to navigate this dilemma, as I was torn between wanting them to truly understand me and not wanting to divulge too much of my past. The turning point came when we decided to include stories from my background, even the difficult ones.
I realized that it was essential to share some of the hardships and trauma I had experienced in my life, not to lay blame or seek sympathy but to illuminate the fact that everyone has a story, a journey filled with trials and tribulations. This book, I decided, needed to be real and raw—a genuine account of resilience and the audacity to pursue one’s dreams boldly.
In essence, my book is a story of resilience, a testament to the unwavering spirit within us all. It is about boldly building the life of your dreams, no matter the obstacles that may stand in your way. My hope is that you’ll draw inspiration and motivation from my experiences, learning from the challenges I faced and the lessons I’ve gathered along the way.
I implore you to take these lessons and use them to fuel your own journey. Step outside your comfort zone, take risks, and embrace the opportunities that come your way. Life is too short to regret not having pursued your dreams or ventured into the unknown. The time to act is now, and my book serves as a reminder to seize the moment.
I eagerly anticipate sharing my book with you, dear readers. It’s a book from the depths of my heart, a message that I believe was meant to be shared. Every experience, every hardship, and every triumph in my life has led to this moment. I invite you into this space, and I look forward to hearing how my book impacts your life. Thank you for joining me on this incredible journey of resilience, hope, and the pursuit of dreams.
