Sharing the Hard Stories: A Journey of Healing

Introduction

I’m back to share more about my upcoming book, “Building Dreams: Finding Personal and Financial Freedom Through Healing.” In my last video and newsletter, I talked about why I wrote the book, and today I want to dive deeper into why I’ve chosen to share some of the hard stories, the personal hardships, and the struggles that you’ll encounter when you read it.

As I sit here with my laptop, surrounded by the serene beauty of a snowy forest, I’m preparing for the final editing of my book before sharing it with you. This journey has been three years in the making, and I can’t wait for you to read it. But today, I want to discuss why it’s crucial for me to open up, reveal the hard stuff, and why I’ve decided to share it in my book.

A Journey of Healing

Writing a book is an incredible journey, and mine has been deeply transformative. My book is a blend of memoir and personal stories, and it became instrumental in my own healing process. If you ever aspire to write a memoir or include personal stories in your writing, be prepared for something powerful: it will crack you open. But don’t let that deter you because sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.

Cracking Open for Healing

I want to emphasize that when you embark on a journey of sharing your most personal stories, it often leads to revisiting wounds you thought were healed. But guess what? It’s essential. It’s necessary for your personal growth, for embracing life in its fullness, for achieving true freedom, and for realizing genuine health in all its dimensions—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Going Deep

I’ve had therapists and coaches who, even on days when I wanted to avoid diving deep, insisted on going there because they knew that surface-level work wouldn’t cut it. Writing this book has been no different—it’s about going deep. My hope is that it will crack you open, too, in ways you may not have anticipated.

Everyone Has a Story

You don’t have to come from a background of extreme trauma or hardship to relate to the stories in my book. Every one of us has experienced something, whether it’s lowercase ‘t’ trauma or uppercase ‘T’ trauma. You will find elements that resonate with your own experiences, and my aim is to create a space where we can all connect through our shared journeys.

Sharing the Darkness

One of the reasons I’ve chosen to share the hard stories in my book is because I don’t want to hold back. I want to be fully authentic and transparent with you. If I only shared my successes without acknowledging the hardships I’ve faced, it wouldn’t do justice to the depth of my experiences. I’m here to bring the darkness to light, to show you the full spectrum of my life, and to encourage you to do the same.

A relationship that had been strained for seven years found its way back to reconciliation, forgiveness, and healing.
